INFLUENCE OF DISPOSITIONS ON TPACK DEVELOPMENT: A CASE OF THAI EFL PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS : TEACHER EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Despite substantial evidence underscoring the significance of teachers' intrinsic qualities in educational practices and outcomes, research into the influence of teacher dispositions on their knowledge development remains scarce. This study utilized a sequential explanatory mixed-methods approach to investigate the professional dispositions of Thai pre-service EFL teachers and their impact on developing the four domains of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework. A cohort of twenty-five pre-service teachers participated in a 20-hour workshop designed to enhance TPACK competencies, followed by post-workshop and follow-up self-evaluations. Ten participants, representing high, medium, and low self-evaluation scores, were selected for further analysis through three classroom observations. Subsequent semi-structured interviews provided deeper insights into how specific dispositions influenced TPACK development. The findings reveal key dispositions that either facilitate or hinder the integration of technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge, emphasizing the need for EFL teacher education programs to prioritize professional dispositions as fundamental educational objectives alongside traditional competencies.
