IMPROVING WRITERS' GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY AND SYNTACTIC COMPLEXITY WITH ASSISTANCE FROM A LARGE LANGUAGE MODEL : METHODOLOGIES AND TEACHING APPROACHES
Language educators at the secondary and university levels often manage large groups of students engaged in complex language activities aimed at enhancing their language proficiency. Managing these activities and the resulting student data can be both burdensome and time-consuming. However, leveraging ChatGPT to generate Google Sheets formulas and Python code can streamline student management, allowing educators to focus on interpersonal communication and fostering meaningful learning experiences. This workshop will feature interactive activities where participants can learn to create classroom activities and implement effective student management systems. Moreover, it will highlight the efficient integration of ChatGPT into lesson-planning and evaluation processes. Participants are encouraged to bring a computer, tablet, or smartphone to actively engage in workshop activites.
Dr. Rose currently works at Yonsei University, Pyeongtaek University, and KAIST. He sees language learning as a tool to connect people across borders, such that a more connected world may be one in which individuals are able to collaborate and solve urgent problems facing humanity.
