VARIATION PATTERNS IN ONLINE PEER FEEDBACK : LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
Peer feedback has been shown to have a significant impact on various aspects of student learning and assessment, promoting autonomy reflective learning, and higher understanding. With an action research design, this study aimed to explore the variation patterns of online peer feedback under the guidance of the teacher. The study was conducted in a junior compulsory class for Chinese Tradition Culture at a university in the middle of China. The course lasted for 8 weeks, there were two lectures in a week for one and half hours in spring 2024. 143 English major juniors comprised of 21 males and 122 females, participated in this study. In terms of data collection, online peer feedback data were gathered and analyzed at three stages, at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the course with different emphases of the teacher's guidance. The software NVivo was used to run the data analysis with emphasis on the different contents of peer feedback in this study. Based on the findings, some suggestions were proposed to teachers thinking about implementing peer assessment based on the study.
