DEVELOPING 21ST CENTURY SKILLS FOR VOCATIONAL COLLEGE STUDENTS THROUGH COMMUNITY DIGITAL COACHING PROJECT : INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION AND GLOBAL COMPETENCIES
According to the ATC21S researchers, we can group 21st century skills into four broad categories: (i) ways of thinking, (ii) ways of working, (iii) tools for working, and (iv) skills for living in the world. The skills included in the categories are creativity and innovation, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, learning to learn, communication, collaboration, information literacy, ICT literacy, citizenship, life and career, and cultural awareness and competence. Possessing and mastering certain abilities is crucial for vocational students prior to entering the actual workforce. The goal of this research is to pinpoint the 21st century skills that vocational college students, participating in the Community Digital Coaching project, have developed. This project aims to assist local communities and small enterprises in building brand awareness through social media platforms. The students must contact local communities to assist them in creating social media accounts and digital content. The research methodology involved distributing a Google Form questionnaire to 60 students involved in the project. The questionnaire utilized a Likert range format, ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree, with a range of 1–5. Given that the project has recently concluded and data collection is still ongoing, the anticipated outcome is that the students will gain valuable knowledge from the aided communities and enhance their 21st century skills through this project.
