EFFECTS OF USING MICROSOFT FLIP ON THE SPEAKING PERFORMANCE OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS. : DIGITAL LITERACIES/LANGUAGE LEARNING AND TECHNOLOGY
Being proficient in English speaking is indispensable globally for academic and professional success. As a widely utilized language, English acts as a doorway to personal and career advancement in our interconnected world. For Thai undergraduate students, English speaking is of paramount importance as it facilitates effective communication with peers and professors, while also being interconnected with global society and beneficial for their future personal growth. Technology plays a crucial role in developing students' English speaking skills. This study is to investigate the effects of Microsoft Flip, an Internet-based tool, to the speaking performance of Business English undergraduate students at a university in the northeastern region of Thailand. The study employs a research design that integrates both quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative data are gathered through pre- and post-speaking tests. Additionally, semi-structured interviews provide the insights of qualitative data into participants' perspectives on using Microsoft Flip as a technology-enhanced tool in speaking lessons. The outcomes of this study are expected to see significant improvements in the speaking performance of undergraduate Business English program students through technological interventions. In addition, the participants have positive attitudes towards learning English with MF based speaking activities. Further results and suggestions are going to be explored from different perspectives of our engaging participants of the study.
