A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARD CHINA ENGLISH, CHINESE ENGLISH, AND GLOBAL ENGLISHES: INSIGHTS FROM THREE RESEARCH STUDIES : ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC/SPECIFIC PURPOSES

This paper critically examines the attitudes of Chinese university students toward China English, Chinese English, and Global Englishes through a comparative analysis of three research studies. The paper explores how these studies approach language identity, teaching implications, and perceptions of English varieties in China. By comparing their methodologies, findings, and theoretical frameworks, the analysis highlights the complexities of language attitudes in a Chinese context and suggests areas for future research and pedagogical practice. The paper concludes by discussing the broader implications for English Language Teaching (ELT) in China and the integration of China English into university curricula.
